CONQUERING THE CASCADE LAKES

Scott Cook & Griff Marshall of Fly and Field Outfitters headed up to Crane Prairie Reservoir and Wickiup Reservoir at the end of the Summer to get one last crack at the monster trout waters before Winter kicked in.  It started out as one of those "you should have been here yesterday" days, but once the fish started to get hungry we completely forgot about the early slump.   We started in search of CRANEBOWS on Crane Prairie, we found plenty, and even spotted the granddaddy, but he was a wise one and ignored our presentations.  Then off to big Wickiup Browns that will pry the line from your hand when they pounce on your streamer!

2013 SALMONFLIES ON THE DESCHUTES

Another Spring filled with big bugs on the water and the local population of trout going ape shit over them.  I had a chance to fish for two different species of trout this year during the world famous Deschutes River salmonfly hatch.  It was a great experience, but the one thing I learned is to invest in some Chubby Chernobyls (purple and gold ones).

FLY & FIELD OUTFITTERS DOWN THE DESCHUTES

Last weekend I had the opportunity to roll down the Deschutes River with the guys at Fly & Field Outfitters in Bend, Oregon.  We had a great time, and were rewarded with nice sunny weather nearly the entire trip.  We floated for three days from Trout Creek to Harpom Flats.
